Ylana Yaari

1999, São Paulo, Brazil. Currently based in Lisbon.

Ylana Yaari’s practice moves between art, material, territory and forms of care. Working across sculpture, painting, textiles and installation, she investigates the unstable spaces where things expected to remain separate begin to meet: fragility and strength, softness and structure, the individual and the collective, the visible and the unseen.

Her research explores how these tensions shape our relationships with materials, bodies and the environments we inhabit. Through making, cultivating and caring for the land, she reflects on interdependence, labour, consumption and the politics embedded in everyday life.

She disrupts established hierarchies and expectations, allowing softness to become structure and fragility to hold weight. Rather than seeking resolution, her work considers balance as something continuously negotiated through tension, transformation and coexistence.

Ylana Yaari

A prática de Ylana Yaari transita entre arte, matéria, território e formas de cuidado. Trabalhando com escultura, pintura, têxteis e instalação, investiga os espaços instáveis onde aquilo que se espera que permaneça separado começa a se encontrar: fragilidade e força, suavidade e estrutura, indivíduo e coletivo, o visível e o invisível.

A sua pesquisa explora como essas tensões moldam as nossas relações com os materiais, os corpos e os ambientes que habitamos. Através do fazer, do cultivo e do cuidado com a terra, reflete sobre interdependência, trabalho, consumo e as dimensões políticas presentes na vida quotidiana.

Ylana subverte hierarquias e expectativas estabelecidas, permitindo que a suavidade se torne estrutura e que a fragilidade sustente peso. Em vez de procurar uma resolução, o seu trabalho entende o equilíbrio como algo continuamente negociado através da tensão, da transformação e da coexistência.
